Who do you think you Are?.. Know oneself.

There are men and women who make up the world. They do this, by being the kind of people they are. How you see the world , the way  you define it, and it’s perfection is a mirror back to you and your purpose and helps you to know oneself.(Jack Canfield)

In my previous articles, I talked about How to love yourself: 10 steps . This is crucial to who you are because it’s the basis to find out who you are and embrace it.  when you love yourself, you know your value. 

So who am I? Asking yourself this questions will get you a lot of answers at first. Answers where you identify yourself with either your religious, nationality or educational affiliations.

Jay Shetty speaks on this  and I love his saying ” I am not who I think I am, I am not who you think I am, I am who I think you think I am “. Deep right.

We tend to identify ourselves with what others say about us instead of finding our real us. The following steps will help you find out your real self.

STEPS TO TAKE TO IDENTIFY THE REAL YOU

Find your passion

I am sure you have heard it over and over that finding your passion is a great way to know yourself but the question here is how to find the passion. look for the two qualities you mostly enjoy doing.

These qualities can be talking, singing, writing, reading among others. Should you find the one you enjoy doing, then you have found your passion. You know, what you are passionate about is something that keeps you awake in the middle of night. What you are passionate about is something you are willing to do despite the critics, although sometimes it’s always not the case.

This is because, we sometimes persist for thing because people criticize those very things but when the criticism ends, so does the drive we had for what we so claimed we loved. That is not passion. Passion is what remain whether in criticism or not.

Find Your purpose.

So what is the difference between passion and purpose? passion is what you love to do and purpose is channelling what you love to the service of others. It can be either work or not.

Your purpose is the way you express the qualities you love. let me give you an example: You love to talk a lot, and when I say a lot I mean talking non-stop. so you go to school and you express this by teaching your friends, you go for a gathering and you advise people you meet  and at home you help your mum sell her products by bringing in customers due to your talkative nature.

That’s great. This is because you can work with your passion which is talking and be happy at it since it is something you love to do.  Note: we spend most of our time working so channelling your passion into the work place is a great thing.

Perfect world

Another way to know yourself is what I call the perfect world. Imagine the world is perfect: From your point of view, What would be happening? write them down and get a sentence of your perfect world. This makes you know who you are.

Past and Present

Another great way to identify the real you, is by looking over your past and present experiences( I suggest you write them down for clarity) noting all your joy, sadness, and pain but focus mostly on your joy and work on the things that made you sad. This is helpful since it helps you analyse your self into dept.

Talents

talents are what we think of last when we want to know our self but they do come in handy. This is because, it helps us identify what we have in our self and what we can bring.
