Summary Of the first two chapters

The wakeup call: Chapter one.

This chapter of the book which happens to be the first, talks about the main Characters of the Book. Julian and John have been friends and colleagues for over 17 years.
Julian collapsed in the court room numbered 7. They had both won the Mother of all murder trial which happened to be Johns first trial with Julian as an intern in the same place.
Julian had it all including success and riches but lost his will and soul in the quest of finding riches.

The Mysterious visitor: Chapter 2

Julian in this chapter resigns after he collapsed. He refused to see anyone including john who tried to see him but to no avail.
John later gave up thinking he reminded Julian of the life he wanted to give up. He was hurt by Julian’s actions. Julian then sold all his possession, mansion, plane and his private island. He had even sold his Ferrari. He moved to India, a place he had only heard of and wanted to visit.
After his departure, John begun to think of his life and his family. He went to play golf on Saturday and spent time with his family. He also occasionally thought of Julian.
A knock gave him the answers to his questions. Julian the 53-year-old, who was described by John as one who was in his late seventies had changed to look like one in his thirties.

Character Analysis

Julian

Never one to back down on any case fell to the floor with his soul and purpose lost. To find himself, he sells his possessions and moves to India hoping to find some Answers.
What I liked about this character was the fact that he could realize he was falling and needed an uplifting. He did not think much about the success he had achieved but his lost purpose and enthusiasm towards the work he ones loved
What I didn’t like about him in the first two chapters was not saying goodbye to his best friend John before leaving although he reported to john first when he returned.

John

As observant as he is, he realized that Julian had changed but never left his side.
He is also a person willing to learn from his mistakes. After Julian left for three years, he did not become a workaholic but rather one who takes care of himself and his family.
Although he was impatient when he was told of the visitor he had, he still welcomed him and accessed the person in front of him.

Rating

Out of five, I rate the first two chapters 5/5
This is because, although it’s a fictional book, I got to learn a lot from it.

Quotes I Like from these chapters

“John, on your deathbed you will never wish you spent more time at the office.”

“he was sick and tired of being sick and tired.”

“Sure, I am that this day we are masters of our fate, that the
task which has been set before us is not above our strength;
that its pangs and toils are not beyond my endurance. As
long as we have faith in our own cause and an unconquerable will to win, victory will not be denied us”

That’s all for today.
